SimplyPHP helps room to read solve the web
When Tony Capozzi and Raphael Leroux from SimplyPHP Center were invited to a corporate breakfast by the McGill chapter of Aiesec to listen the President of Just for Laughs speak, they didn’t realize that it was going to be the beginning of a cool relationship with Room to Read, especially since they had never heard of them.
Room to Read was founded in 2000 by former Microsoft Executive John Wood. Their mission is to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Room to Read has improved the lives of almost nine million children in 10 countries in Asia and Africa.
It was there that the pair met Monica Vegh from IATA. Monica’s energy was contagious. She explained that she had a “project” that would be perfect for a company like SimplyPHP.
“I automatically assumed that the project had something to do with IATA so she obviously had my attention” says Capozzi. A few days later Tony and Monica met at SimplyPHP’s Old montreal office and the SimplyPHP – Room to Read partnership was born.
SimplyPHP was then introduced to Rebecca Best from Best Strategy. Rebecca is one of Room to Read’s Montreal chapter board members. She, along with SimplyPHP’s Director of Engineering Jean Karim Metwalli and Web Designer Viviane Gosselin knocked the project out of the park.
“We’re very happy to be involved with Room to Read and we hope to be there to help when needed for many years to come” says Raphael Leroux.
Room to Read’s annual event is taking place at the Bank of Montreal’s head office on May 7th, 2015. Please visit roomtoreadmontreal.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
