How to stand out as a developer?

For the past 2 years (we all know why), customer service has gone down the river and sunk like a rock in a lake. Why? Well, there are lots of reasons. Business owners are stressed, while employees are overloaded, burned out, and exhausted. 

If you don’t own a business yourself, you might think that these conditions aren’t an excuse for poor customer service. However, in these exceptional circumstances, I’m tempted to say that it is a valid excuse. In fact, I bet you’ve been in at least one situation where normally (pre-COVID) you’d have been frustrated but instead exercised understanding. 

Luckily for us, we haven’t been negatively impacted. We kept paying attention to clients and have served them well. None of our customer service techniques have changed drastically, but to our surprise and delight, it’s appreciated now more than ever before. Why? Because people are used to bad customer service these days. 

To be fair, we work on our processes regularly, which results in continual improvement. Lately, Tony (one of our owners) realized that it has been a very long time since we had an invoice dispute, which speaks for itself. 

Why am I sharing all of this with you? I want you to realize that in 2022 if your company does the minimum required, you’ll stand out. If you do just a bit more than the minimum, you’ll be treated like rockstars. So, if you were uncertain about starting your business and have great intentions, if I were you, I’d jump right in.
