Most people realize this, but over the last 2 years, remote work has become the norm. Companies love it, but it’s not for the reasons you think.

Before sharing that information with you, I want to clarify that, obviously, this isn’t the case for 100% of companies. But if I had to make a bet, I’d say that the vast majority of them do like it for the reasons I’m about to share with you.

Also, it’s worth noting that remote work doesn’t save companies as much as you may think. We all have other costs now, such as new computers, home office stipends, shipping costs, and so on. Plus, lots of companies have kept their existing office space. So, it’s about more than money.

So why do companies love remote work so much?

  • It’s easier to hire across a country or a province/state
  • Employee satisfaction and happiness has improved
  • Fewer sick days

However, there’s one more reason you’ve probably never thought about. Ready?

Companies LOVE not having to see and stress about daily employee behaviors. What do I mean?

Well, many managers or business owners get stressed out seeing their employees waste time during the day by surfing the web, getting phone calls, looking distracted, and so on. They all know this is still happening, but since they don’t see it and because their business keeps running, well, then it’s fine.

Now, keep in mind one important thing. Although you may work fully remote, your boss most likely knows (or will know) if you’re not giving it your all. How? Experience. It will affect your progression in the company if that’s your case. Work ethic is key, and lots of great employees have been and are going to be being promoted during the pandemic.

Everyone is winning with remote work, and if as an employee you keep doing your very best, you’ll do very well.
